Super Visa

Super VisaNo matter, for how much time you are living in Canada, almost all Canadian citizens or permanent residents are allowed to sponsor their parents and grandparents from anywhere in the world. This visa is known as Super Visa. The general validity of a super visa is for 2 years but can be renewed multiple times.

Eligibility Criteria For Super Visa Sponsorship

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen,
  • Must be at least 18 years old,
  • Must be able to support the basic needs of spouse or partner and any dependents,
  • Must be able to financially support the spouse/partner for at least three years,
  • Must not have sponsored anyone in the past who has requested financial assistance from the government,
  • Must not be bankrupt, or should not have a criminal record,
  • Must be legally married to a spouse or cohabiting for at least one year to sponsor a common-law partner,

It should be noted that Super Visa holders are not allowed to work in Canada. There is a permanent residence program for parents and grandparents; however, there is a limited supply of visas under this program, and applications can take a long time to be processed.

The process of applying for and obtaining the Super Visa can be done directly between the applicant and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Our immigration consultant at Passion Immigration can help you in guiding and filing a super visa sponsorship application to sponsor your family or grandparents to live and stay with you.
